About feeds
When you encounter a website with a standard icon such as this:
or this:
it means you can receive updates from that site without having to visit the site. The icon indicates the web site you are visiting has a feed available. This feature is referred to as "syndication" or subscribing to a feed.
Imagine having all your favorites sites updated with their new postings in one central location. This saves you the trouble of having to manually check each of your favorite sites for newly posted content. You save time by having the new content come to you.
What is RSS
RSS represents a format or standard for syndicating news, blogs, podcasts, etc., and used to stand for several acronyms, one of the most popular being "Really Simple Syndication". As standards evolved, RSS now simply represents an umbrella of web feed formats. Aside from the HTML content you are reading, entries are also published in standard RSS format which allows all feed readers to interpret content published from different sites in a similar manner.
How to read your feeds from one location
There are several applications you can download and install on your computer that will allow you to read all your feeds. I prefer to use a web-based feed reader like Google Reader or Yahoo.

Using email instead of a feed reader
Some readers might only visit a couple of sites and don't have the need to set up a feed reader. These readers can choose to have new content emailed to them automatically. This site uses FeedBlitz's email service that sends updates to those who have registered for them. Don't worry you can always unsubscribe and your email address will be kept private by the FeedBlitz email service.
